UW-L’s Winters will spring into action at NCAA Div. III Meet

It’s a hectic, but exciting week for UW-La Crosse as they prepare to host their fourth NCAA Div. III Track and Field National Championships.

The women qualified 13 athletes, while the men qualified 12.

One of the athletes on the men’s side to look out for is Ernest Winters, who will be competing in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and 4 by 100 meter relay.

Winters is tied for the best time in division three for the 100 at 10.42 seconds.

He also ranks third in the 200, and his relay team is first in the country, which also happens to be what he is looking forward to most.

"Just knowing I get to bring it around my teammates instead of an individual. I love the hundred and I love the two hundred, but I get to be with my teammates and we get to share that happiness together when we bring it around," said Winters.
"He came on and he figured out what he needed to do and I am excited. That is kind of a little litmus test to see what he is going to do at the national meet.," said UW-L Track Coach Josh Buchholtz.

The three-day NCAA Div. III National Meet starts Thursday at Harring Stadium.
