Biking across the country for cancer

A non-profit organization dedicated to spreading cancer awareness, raising money, and interviewing people affected by the disease arrived in La Crosse on Thursday. The Illini 4000 bike riders were welcomed at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center and given a tour of the facility. The riders began their trek in New York City and end their route in San Francisco. Though the cross country trek is challenging, it’s nothing compared to what others have to endure.

"I remember thinking to myself this is incredibly hard," says rider Nick Fishburne. "But I can’t even imagine what it’s like to go through cancer treatment."

In 2018 alone, the Illini 4000 has raised over $85,000 so far.
