La Crosse County is ranked ninth in Wisconsin for visitor spending, taking in more than $260 million last year. While taking some time to enjoy the area can be expensive, it doesn’t always have to be.
La Crosse County campgrounds can offer a relaxing, slightly less expensive get-away.
Campgrounds like Goose Island offer hundreds of campsites so you don’t have to drive too far to get out of the city.
"At both our county campgrounds we charge based on the amenities at the sight," Mary Kaufmann, Parks and Office Manager for La Crosse County Facilities says.
"So if you’ve got a bigger RV, say that would need to be on a 50 amp site with water, that’s going to be more expensive than a tent site. Let’s say you’re coming to Goose Island or Veterans Memorial for the weekend, your rental is going to be under $50 for the two nights," Kaufmann finishes.
Though school starts in a few weeks there’s still time to reserve a site. Both Goose Island and Veterans Memorial Campgrounds are open until October.
