La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) — Students at Western Technical College had a chance to learn about health services in the community at a wellness fair on Tuesday. Information included physical, mental, and social wellness.
Nationally recognized motivational speaker, Monti Washington, shared his personal story about overcoming adversity. He hopes his story left students feeling confident to make the life they want for themselves.
“We talk about wellness, and yeah, it’s good to look good and feel good, but it’s up here,” said Washington. “If you don’t have your mental health in order, if you don’t have your emotional health in order, I don’t care how good you look or how much you can lift weights. It won’t matter.”
Washington says he typically speaks about empowerment but tailored his focus to mental health and wellness for Western Technical College students.
Washington’s motivational speaking takes him on travels around the United States. He says it is seeking a difference made in the lives of those he works with that makes the job worth it.
