LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) Harter’s Quick Clean-Up will be offering free document shredding this Friday and Saturday.
Individuals and business are invited to bring up to 100 pounds of documents for free shredding. After the first 100 pounds, there will be a charge.
Organizers say it is important to properly dispose of any papers with personal or financial information on them to help protect your identity. “One piece of paper can bankrupt somebody. Everybody talks about identity theft when you think of documents such as credit card statements bank statements and the like. That has all your vital information on that. You want to shred that if you’re disposing of it versus just recycling it. ” says Jeff Holmquist of Harter’s. “If it is something that you want to shred if you consider it vital information, you bring it to us, drop it off, we will shred it the same day. There is many things people can take your name and address in some cases and so bad things with it” added Holmquist.
The event will run from 8-12 on both Friday and Saturday at their facility at 2850 Larson St.
