La Crosse, Wisc. (WXOW)- UW-La Crosse was off to another fast start on Saturday against UW-River Falls. On just the third play of the game, UW-La Crosse Quarterback Ben Schramski hit UW-La Crosse Wide Receiver Dominic Labellarte for the 72 yard touchdown.
Late in the first quarter, UW-La Crosse Running Back Austin Mancosky punched in a 2 yard rushing touchdown to make it 14-0 Eagles.
UW-La Crosse Kicker Ryan Beirne added on a 26-yard field goal to extend the lead 17-0 at the half.
In the third quarter, Schramksi and Labellarte connected again. This time it was a 46-yard touchdown and the Eagles led 26-0. Labellarte finished with 161 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Falcons then scored two touchdowns, one late in the third quarter, and one early in the fourth quarter to cut it to 26-14.
However, Ryan Beirne added on another 34-yard field goal to extend the Eagles lead 29-14 which was the final.
” We wanted to take shots and we took shots all game, we just couldn’t find a way to complete some of those things. They were able to get back in and get some of those interceptions on us,” Head Coach Mike Schmidt said.” You know Ben needed to put it on the outside and gives our guys a shot. I thought our guys were wide open most of the day.”
” We knew we just needed to make the 50-50 battle, and today the ball just landed in my court,” Labellarte said.
” Speiker is another guy well any of us really can make tremendous plays like that.”
The Eagles defense added on two interceptions and held the Falcons to 246 total yards of offense.The Eagles improve to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in conference.
