La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) – La Crosse native and United States Congressmen Ron Kind won reelection to the United States House of Representatives on Sunday.
At the time of this article, Kind defeated his opponent, Republican Steve Toft, by more than 50,000 votes to retain the seat.
He joins 23 other Democrats elected to Congress after the midterm election, enough for the party to take control of the house.
The exchange in majority power marks the end of the GOP’s two year run having complete control in Congress.
“Having divided government can be very good and healthy for democracy because checks and balances are restored,” Representative Ron Kind elaborates.
“We all need to start rebuilding Wisconsin and America again, with infrastructure and investment. It’s an area that the president wants to explore with us too. We also know that health care costs are still too expensive, and there are areas that we can work on together to try and make that more affordable for all Americans.”
Kind celebrated his win with voters in La Crosse.
