LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) The Salvation Army is making sure kids in need have at least one gift under their tree this holiday season.
Today, The Angel Giving Tree went up at the Valley View Mall. The tree is covered in tags, each tag representing a child and that child’s Christmas needs. Shoppers take a tag and are asked to play the role of Santa for the child.
Salvation Army employee Kelley Manson says this is a great chance to make a difference in a child’s life. “For the people that you are taking the tag off the tree this means that they get to open something on Christmas morning. They are getting Toys for Tots, too, so we kind of step in with the needs and let Toys for Tots handle the wants and I think it takes a lot off mom and dads back.”
The Angel Giving Tree will go live this Saturday. The tree will also be featured at every Shopko in the La Crosse area as well as Once Upon A Child and Plato’s Closet in Onalaska.
