15 nonprofits surprised with Giving Tuesday donations

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – The La Crosse Community Foundation surprised 15 different nonprofit organizations with donations Tuesday.

Each of the organizations received checks between $1000 and $3000 in honor of Giving Tuesday.

“Traditionally nonprofit organizations solicit gifts for Giving Tuesday,” the foundation’s program director Katie Berkedal said. “This year we thought it would be really fun to turn it around and do a reverse Giving Tuesday and give money out. We think it’s a great way to honor the hard work of our local nonprofits and to inspire philanthropy in our community.”

One of those organizations included Aptiv – formerly known as Riverfront Inc – on La Crosse’s south side, receiving a $1000 dollar check from the Robert and Eleanor Franke Charitable Fund.

“We provide services for about 1300 individuals across the state of Wisconsin with disabilities,” Aptiv’s development director Andy Parrish said. “We need support to do that and we’re very thankful they chose us.”

Each board member for the La Crosse Community Foundation was able to choose a nonprofit to receive a donation.
