La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) – This week’s recent snow fall might have been a pain to shovel, but snowboarders and skiers used the opportunity to shred it away at Mt. La Crosse.
“Really the biggest advantage for us is just having things look like winter in town,” Mt. La Crosse general manager Darcie Breidel said. “We’re obviously a place to come out for the winter. We have fun out here whether there’s snow in town or not, but it definitely gets everybody else thinking about coming out when there’s fresh snow.”
Just a week ago, the resort had been closed due to rain and poor weather. They had been waiting for temperatures to drop in order to create new snow and were pleased to wake up to not only the cold, but a fresh new blanket on the hills.
“It looks like we’re gonna be able to make snow for a few more days and we’re super excited about that. It’s really a great recipe when we’re able to make snow and then we get some nice fresh snow especially a good four to six inches. It really is a game changer for us,” Breidel added.
Winter sports enthusiasts use Mt. La Crosse until the first weekend or so of March, so it’s crucial that temperatures remain low enough for man-made snow not only to be made, but also used.
If you are not into winter sports, Mt. La Crosse still has plenty to do, from live music to their weekly trivia night. You can find more information at their website here.
