United Way short almost $60,000 as 2018-19 campaign nears closing

La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) – The Great Rivers United Way may come up short on their 2018-2019 fund raising campaign.

That campaign comes to a close Thursday, January 31. The United Way says they are about $60,000 short of where they need to be for their partner programs to fully serve people in the community.

The United Way has more than 70 programs including help with health, housing and education. Great Rivers United Way’s Executive Director Mary Kay Wolf said there’s still time and any donation – no matter the size – can make a big difference.

It’s not just when it’s really cold outside or not just when the government isn’t paying their employees,” Wolf said. “This is a daily thing for a lot of people and sometimes just that bridge of support helps them to a place where they can get some traction.”

Great Rivers United Way will be the beneficiary of a raffle Thursday afternoon. The Brenegen Auto Group will raffle off a 70” TV at their Onalaska location at 4 pm.
