La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) – It was a special day for a Southern Bluffs Elementary student Friday.
Alex Heiderscheit is a fourth grade student, but Friday he had the job of principal for the day. He won that honor at Southern Bluff’s annual PTO holiday fair auction. Heiderscheit led students in the pledge of allegiance and gave morning announcements. He also made classroom visits, supervised the lunchroom and met with school staff and district leaders throughout the day – including La Crosse Superintendent Randy Nelson.
“I didn’t know that [principals] had so many meetings everyday,” Heiderscheit said.
He said he enjoyed learning what his principal Lisa Schreiner does on a day to day basis, though he said he doesn’t see himself in that role when he grows up.
“I thought it was going to be really awesome and it was going to be super fun,” he said.
