Law enforcement refresh skills in CPR

Holmen, Wis. (WXOW) – Law enforcement in Holmen got a refresher in CPR and the use of AED’s Wednesday morning.

Holmen police were also joined by members of Bangor, Campbell and West Salem’s police departments for a session with Gundersen EMS reviewing skills in CPR, AED and Stop the Bleed training. Studies show that even just six months after first training, the average person loses their knowledge of CPR.

“It’s really important to come back and refresh on those skills,” EMS Educator Rick Burton said. “It doesn’t mean you have to take a whole new CPR course again, but just to come back and do some practice and a review of the CPR principles.”

Barton said the goal of these sessions is to help create a better integrated healthcare system to help save lives.
