Child thrown or pushed from 3rd floor at Mall of America, suspect in custody

Bloomington, Minn (WQOW) – Bloomington police say a 5-year-old was pushed or thrown from the third floor of the Mall of America on Friday morning.

The child suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, according to Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts.

Potts went on to say the suspect, 24, did not know the child and took off immediately after the incident. He was arrested a short time later at the mall.

Potts said portions of the first and third floor of the mall are closed as police investigate.
