La Crosse duo competes for pizza “dough”

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – Local pizza pros are getting their game face on for an event that could earn them a lot of dough. The regional “Skin Sprints” competition takes place Wednesday in Madison.

Tyler Burgett and Brian Albrecht will be representing the La Crosse Toppers restaurant at the regional round that sees pizza makers stretch and form the dough before adding the sauce to create the perfect “skin.” They’ve got to do that six times as fast as they can, and Burgett said any dough that isn’t a “perfect ten” must be fixed, adding to the challenge. The pair has plenty of experience. They say they’re best friends who have both been working at Toppers for more than five years.

Burgett and Albrecht will be putting the skills they honed making those late night pies to the test for a chance at $4,000. To compete for that national prize, they’ll first have to place in the top two at Wednesday’s regional. We wish them both the best of luck representing the La Crosse area!
