Onalaska Police Chief steps down, moves to Assistant Chief

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The city of Onalaska is looking for a new police chief after Troy Miller steps down.

Troy Miller requested the move to the Police and Fire Commission. He will now fill the roll of the assistant chief after that was vacated due to Jeffery Cavender retiring following being placed on paid administrative leave.

Miller said the decision to step down was due to personal and family matters. Miller served as the assistant chief before taking the role of chief.

While the PFC accepted the request, Miller will now serve as the acting chief while the city searches for a new chief.

The city began the search immediately.
