More than 29 tons of unused drugs collected on Drug Take Back Day in WI

MADISON (WXOW) – There are a lot of unused and unwanted medications in Wisconsin.

Attorney General Josh Kaul said at more than 190 Drug Take Back Day events around the state last Saturday, 58,408 pounds of drugs were collected.

One of those was here in La Crosse.

As a reminder, Kaul said that there are 462 permanent drug disposal boxes across the state that are available all year.

The disposal boxes and events such as Drug Take Back Day help prevent potential abuse of drugs as well as improper disposal of medications.

All of the old drugs collected at the April 27 event will get boxed up and transported to an Indiana facility where they’ll be incinerated.
