HOLMEN, Wis. (WXOW) – Students at Holmen High School are celebrating the end of the school year with a tasty meal.
The high school held their 3rd Annual Surf N’ Turf lunch Wednesday. Some items on the menu included garlic shrimp, sirloin steaks, baked potatoes and asparagus.
The steaks and potatoes both come from local farms. The asparagus was grown in the schools own asparagus garden.
The event is designed to reward the students for another successful school year.
“It’s really kind of a neat event to do, for our staff to do,” Nutrition Services Supervisor Michael Gasper said.
“It kind of gets us into some things that we normally don’t do. But again, it goes hand in hand with our Farm 2 School program and everything that we’re doing out here in Holmen.”
Gasper also says that he has noticed more schools in the area putting on Surf N’ Turfs since the event started three years ago.
