UW-L softball ready for major challenge at the Super Regionals

La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW)  The UW-La Crosse softball team will make history Friday when they take the field against St. Thomas in St. Paul.
It’ll be the first ever trip to the Super Regionals for the Eagles.

They have certainly taken the hard road to get their.
Remember, they needed to win five games in a row at the WIAC Tournament to get the league’s automatic bid.
Then last weekend, they beat Lake Forest in back to back games to win the Regional.
When their season has been on the line UW-L has had a knack for coming through in the clutch.

“There’s a looseness about this team that most teams don’t have. No situation is too big for them. I think we have a lot of fun together and just realize it’s not life or death. It’s just a game. That’s the way everyone approaches it and I think that helps us compete on the field,” said head coach Chris Helixon.
“I think everyone on this team has a drive to win. We’re all competitors and each one knows that it’s do or die at certain moments. No one wants to be done,” said pitcher Caitlyn Hughes.

The Eagles best of three series with the Tommies starts Friday at 4 PM.

Winner advances to the NCAA Div. III Championships in Tyler, Texas.
