LA CRESCENT, MN. (WXOW) A new trail is giving children and parents in La Crescent the opportunity to learn while playing.
On Monday, a new Born Learning Trail was opened near Hickory Park in La Crescent. Learning trails are a product of United Way Worldwide. This trail features nine signs, each of them includes an activity for parents to do with their children.
The Executive Director of Great Rivers United Way Mary Kay Wolf says the signs are a great learning tool for young children all while getting them outside and moving. “This trail is actually key for a lot of the basic fundamentals of being a child,” said Wolf. “This is an outdoor activity this is with adult caregivers someone that can read the signs. This is starting those children off in the critical thinking and that learning how to read it is all part of what the signs look like.”
This is the seventh Born Learning Trail that Great Rivers United Way has installed. It is the first in Houston County.
