Elk on the loose in Stanley

STANLEY, Wis. (WQOW) – An Elk has escaped from Chapman Park in Stanley and authorities do not know where it is.

According to the Stanley Police Department, the elk escaped its enclosure and its location is unknown.

They say if you happen to be in the area, which is just east of Chippewa Falls, and see an elk “with ear bling that appears out of place,” you should call the Stanley City Hall at (715) 644-5758 during normal business hours or the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department at (715) 726-7701 – and choose option 1.

The post from Stanley does not say if the elk is male or female.

According to the City of Stanley’s website, Chapman Park is home to both deer and elk.

Note: Elk pictured is not the actual elk.
