LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WXOW) – Misty’s Dance Unlimited has been named the first Soak It Up Project Award recipient.
The project honors citizens who reduce storm water runoff. Misty’s Dance Unlimited is keeping polluted water out of the rivers, protecting local drinking water and the community by implementing rain gardens.
Rain and snow that lands on the roof and parking lot flows directly to three new rain gardens that were installed by Coulee Region Ecoscapes. The water soaks into the ground and filters down to restore groundwater.
“If you grow up in this area and raise kids in this area, I think it’s really important to be a steward of those natural resources,” Misty’s Dance Unlimited Owner Misty Lown said.
Everyone is invited to nominate their own storm water management project to receive the 2019 Soak It Up Award. You can nominate projects at lacrosseareawaters.org
