LEWISTON, Minn. (KTTC) — The superintendent of Lewiston-Altura Public Schools, Jennifer Backer-Johnson, has advised parents that a school employee has been taken into custody in a child pornography investigation.
“It was brought to our attention this morning, June 6, 2019, that a school district employee was under investigation by law enforcement,” wrote the superintendent. “This employee was taken into custody at Lewiston-Altura High School for alleged criminal activity related to child pornography. Safety of our students is a number one priority and based upon current information we have been provided by law enforcement the alleged activity does not involve any of our students or other employees.”
Backer-Johnson said the school district has been cooperating with law enforcement throughout the investigation.
An area man was booked into the Winona County Adult Detention Center Thursday afternoon on two charges of Use Minors in Sexual Performance/Pornographic Work. The jail roster identified him as Dane Taylor Austin, 23, and indicates he is being held for a court appearance.
