Man arrested for attempted knife robbery at truck stop

TOMAH, Wis. (WXOW) – 21-year-old Jakob Layland was arrested for attempting to rob a Kwik Trip truck stop by knife.

The attack happened late Wednesday night.

Layland entered the convenience store brandishing his knife and demanding money from the clerk. The clerk refused and called 911. Layland then stabbed a credit card machine and fled in a car before police arrived.

Officers soon tracked down Layland walking on the street.

He’s currently held in the Monroe County jail.
