LCT’s offers fun “fur” all season finale

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – An evil genius meets his match from …cuddly cats? It’s the premise of LCT’s Theatre for Youth production, “Dr. Evil and the Basket of Kittens.”

The show’s director, Stacy Bruemmer said the plot revolves around the up-and-coming mastermind, Dr. Evil as he prepares to wow the Council of Evil with his latest invention. Living with his worried vampire mother, a hunchback assistant and a niece training for her witch certification, Dr. Evil suddenly receives some unexpected company on his doorstep — a basket of kittens!

While it contains all the classic horror film tropes, Bruemmer said it’s anything but scary. It’s a comedy for all ages that she calls “silly” all created by a cast of about 25 young performers and technicians.

The show runs the next two weekends at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts. Showtimes are 7 pm on Friday nights (June 14 & 21) and 2 pm on Saturdays & Sundays (June 15-16 & June 22-23). Tickets are available by calling the box office at 784-9292 or going online to lacrossecommunitytheatre.org.
