Authorities warn of bad heroin in area

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The La Crosse County Medical Examiner is warning of a bad batch of drugs circulating through the area.

Medical Examiner Tim Candahl said in a statement that his office has received information in the past two days of a “possible potent batch of heroin laced with other unidentified drugs” that has affected several people in the county.

Candahl said that as of Friday afternoon, there were six overdoses in La Crosse County, and reports from local emergency medical services of several more in surrounding counties.

He said no deaths are linked to the drugs, but wants to make sure the community is aware of the issue.
