La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – Logan High School’s Alumni Association celebrates a milestone anniversary. You can help celebrate at the Ranger Rally this weekend.
Over the course of the past 20 years, the association has supported students furthering their education upon graduation from Logan. And, as with all good Wisconsin stories, it began in a bar.
“It took us three years meeting in the back room of Sloopy’s,” said Dave Berger. He said the goal was to build enough resources to create a perpetual scholarship.
When they first handed out scholarships, current president Sue Hammond said they distributed four $300 scholarships. This past year, the association gave out more than $35,000 worth of financial support for students.
The 2019 Ranger Rally will help support the continued mission on Saturday, July 20. The fundraising event takes place at Colgan Air Hangar #4 on French Island from 4 to 10 in the evening. Admission is $5. A $10 ticket includes a chicken dinner.
