Bangor, Wisc. (WXOW)- Bangor football fell one win short of the state championship last season and is eager to get back to Camp Randall. They will once again have a good shot at it as they are the clear favorite in the Scenic Bluff Conference. They have now won the conference five straight years.
Their biggest strength this season is their offensive line. Head Coach Rick Muellenberg said the size, strength of their line will open up their running game and also benefit their play-action pass.
The biggest name on their offensive is two-way first team all-conference player Grant Manke.
“We got a big line that is ready just to move people,” Manke said. “We work hard in the summertime. It just leaves wide open holes for our running backs to go through and get into the end zone.”
“Seem to kind of scare the defense,” Senior Jaydene Nachtigal said. “Some of those guys like big Mike and Grant, they’re 6’5, 6’6 coming out their just massive guys. I mean me personally, I wouldn’t want to go up against them.”
“The nice thing is they are not only big, but they are also athletic, which really helps out because we pull and trap a lot,” Muellenberg said. “That means everything to our offense you know. Once our offensive line clicks and works as a unit, then everything else works well.
