Former Caledonia star hoping coaching move is the right next step

Cedar Falls, Iowa (WXOW)  Former Caledonia star Isaac Fruechte is settling in at Northern Iowa.
The former Minnesota Gopher and Viking has had a bit of whirlwind off season.

He was UW-La Crosse’s co-offensive coordinator last season before accepting the job full time in Janauary.
But then a better offer from northern Iowa came along.
Fruechte accepted a job as the receivers coach for the Panthers, a Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision school.
Fruechte hopes the jump leads to a head coaching job someday.

“You always have a desire to do something great. That’s something where i feel like if I can help people, affect them in a positive way, that would be huge to be a head coach. You get the chance to help a hundred some young men every day in addition to coaches and how ever many people are involved in the program,” Fruechte said.

Northern Iowa is a perennial power in the FCS and qualified for the playoffs last season.
