Sparta, Wis. (WXOW)  Not sure if momentum can carry over from one season to the next, but Sparta is sure hoping it does.
The Spartans sneaked into the playoffs last season then picked up a couple of impressive road wins against higher seeded teams.

Sparta returns 14 starters from that squad, seven on both sides of the ball.
Among them, North Dakota State recruit Cole Wisniewski at quarterback.
He played a crucial role in that late season surge and has already noticed a difference with this year’s squad.

“This year, I think the best way to build off it is to have a full season. Last year, it was the second half of the season where it kicked in. The year before that it was the first half of the season where we had a good run. So this year hopefully we can put it all together and just use what we had last year and the year before that to put a full season together.” Wisniewski said.
“I think it helps us a lot knowing we can compete at that level and that we’re not just Sparta anymore. If anyone plays us on Friday nights we’re going to show up and play and we’re going to be ready to win the game and go 1-0 that week,” said offensive lineman Tanner Oswald.

Sparta finished last season 6-6 and will open this season at home against Black River Falls.
