COON VALLEY, WI (WXOW) — A weekend fundraiser is bringing racing, music and food all in one place to revive Coon Valley.
In August 2018, parts of Coon Valley were hit hard with flooding. Homes and businesses were destroyed. Parts of the Veterans Memorial Park along Coon Creek were under water.
A canoe race fundraiser coming up this weekend hopes to bring people together while raising money for victims.
Beth Hanson is the Treasurer of the Coon Valley Business Association and says the backdrop to the venue is breathtaking.
“When you decide to go canoeing this weekend. It’s on a 3.8 scenic route and you’ll see all the beauty of the Driftless Area and all the greenery and the trees and the water and the cows. It’s just such a beautiful area,” said Hanson.
You can help raise money for flood victims and help get Coon Valley back to its pre-flood state by attending Coon Creek Canoe Race this Saturday, August 24, 2019.
Five dollars gets you in to the venue. There is food and drinks for sale, live music topped off by fireworks at 10 o’clock that evening.
To register for the canoe races go to cooncreekcanoerace.com.
Tickets are $30 per canoe which holds two people before midnight August 21, $40 after that.
