La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – The La Crosse Public Library welcomes a new main character as it begins a new chapter in its story. Director Shanneon Grant is no stranger to the city, and she brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Having just begun her duties earlier this month, Grant builds upon nearly 30 years of experience working in local libraries. She started in the La Crosse system while in college and worked as she said in pretty much every aspect of the system. Recently, Grant served as the Sparta Library director for four years.
While still in the early stages of her new position as director, Grant continues to look toward the future. She said libraries are community connectivity hubs going well-beyond just lending books. She hopes to offer more outreach programs as well as bringing the books and services to you through a continuation of the pop-up libraries.
You can meet Grant on Thursday, August 29 during a reception at the Main Library (800 Main St.) in La Crosse. It runs from 4-7 and is open to the public. Entertainment will be provided by Under Paris Skies.
