LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Rudy’s Drive-in hosted a unique fundraiser for the United Way Tuesday night with the focus on the FUN part.
This year’s campaign co-chairs, Gary Rudy and Matt Boschka said they wanted to add a hometown feel to the classic car show.
“Well we were sitting around brainstorming trying to come up with some fun ideas that maybe could raise some money and cause awareness to the United Way. You know it’s a great organization. They donate to like 25 organizations, and 73 [organizations} you know, in those 25 organizations so we came up with this idea,” said Rudy.
“We just always tossed around this idea of doing bicyclers versus motorcycle. It’s kind of like a bragging rights situation and it’s Rudy’s, so we threw in some hot dogs and root beer. All the proceeds go to the Great Rivers United Way which keeps the money here local, which is a win win win for everyone in the community,” said Boschka.
The night’s festivities involved a mini bike race and a hot dog eating contest. The winners receive $100.
