LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Repeated erosion due to high water along a creek on the far south side of town has La Crosse looking for long term solutions.

The area is Justin Road, over Mormon Creek near the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The city council will vote on bringing in a geotechnical consultant to offer suggestions. As erosion wears away at the bank, it could knock a sewer pipe out of place.

“What we need to do to stabilize it or maybe they’ll say it can’t be stabilized and we’ll have to reroute the sanitary sewer. We’re just trying to plan a project for the future to make sure we do the project correctly,” Waste Water Superintendent Jared Greeno said.

Repairs to the Mormon Creek Bridge and the Gillette Street bridge will cost an estimated $40,000.
