Focus on Education at National Farm System and Health Week

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – According to the State Department of Agriculture, there are over 64,000 farms in Wisconsin.

Agriculture is one of the most dangerous jobs in the United States.

The Bureau of Labor showed statistics that 581 workers in agriculture died from work related injuries in 2017. To improve the workplace safety, the National Education Center for Agriculture Safety is providing information each day of the week and that includes mental health.

“Some things that we’re looking at too, with farm safety, is there’s also such a thing as farm stress. Being aware of mental health wellness, that’s another thing, with the decline of commodity prices and people not being able to get what they used to,” Agriculture educator for La Crosse County Kaitlyn Lance said.

All of the information can be found through webinars.
