La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) – For a half-day on Thursday, local small business owners and entrepreneurs gathered to UW-La Crosse’s Area Chamber of Commerce Lyle & Norma Anderson Education Center for the annual Small Business Academy.
The academy offered support, along with financial and technical resources, to those who attended.
Anne Hlavacka, the Director for Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC), said most business owners understand the technical side of running their business but lack information to know how to access financial support.
“At the event, creativity and interest are coming from all ages, from all diverse backgrounds,” Hlavacka said. “It’s just tremendous in terms for me to be able to meet and work with the individuals that attend the event, and for all of the host to be able to come and try to help them create their dream is fulfilling.”
This is the fourth year of the Small Business Academy. The program is presented by the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW-La Crosse (SBDC), the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), and the Wisconsin Procurement Institute (WPI) and hosted by the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation. U.S. Bank has provided financial support for the event.
