West Salem, WI (WXOW) – A new school year brings the return of the Tools for Schools award. We start in West Salem, where the money will help boost reading development.
Chambers’ idea is to match students with so-called “good fit books” easily accessible for kids and teachers for small or large group lessons. She said it speaks to the idea of productive independence.
“Teaching kids to read is the best thing we can give them,” said Chambers. “Not all books are one size fits all just like kids so each kid is reading at numerous different levels, so we just wanted to have the opportunity to get more books that are engaging for them at their individual levels.”
