LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The City of La Crosse has a new police chief.
Shawn Kudron was named late Wednesday afternoon as the next chief by the Police and Fire Commission.
They said in a statement that Kudron’s “experience and dedication to the profession of law enforcement will immensely benefit the La Crosse Police Department and the City of La Crosse as a whole.”
In a statement, La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat said, “Shawn brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, passion and vision for the Chief’s role. He is an incredible leader and will help guide the best Police Department in the State. I look forward to working with Chief Kudron and his team in our neighborhood revitalization efforts and in making La Crosse a safe and vibrant community.”
Kudron is currently Captain of the Investigative Bureau. He’s held that position since 2011. Kudron began with the department in 2000 as a patrolman.
He was one of three finalists for the position to replace Ron Tischer, who left in July.
The other finalists both work in the department-Captain Daniel Kloss and Captain Jason Melby.
The commission said they would confirm the appointment of Kudron at their next meeting on Monday, September 30.
