BARABOO (WKOW) — Rescue crews put their training to work to help an injured hiker at Devil’s Lake State Park this weekend.
Authorities say a large stone overturned while a woman was hiking on Saturday and pinned her leg against another stone.
Her leg was not broken, but she couldn’t walk.
Baraboo firefighters say carrying her out could have been dangerous to the woman and first responders, so they called in a Wisconsin National Guard helicopter to lift her to another part of the park.
Authorities say this happened just a month after emergency responders trained for this kind of scenario. They say the rescue could not have gone any better.
