Onalaska, Wis. (WXOW)  It’s becoming familiar territory for the Holmen boys soccer team.

The Vikings claimed their third straight MVC title with a 2-0 win over Onalaska in a match between the MVC’s top two teams.

Matt Espelien scored both goals, the first in 42nd minute and the second one on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.

“Onalaska is a quality program and for years we’ve been talking about how the MVC needs to have some more respect around the state. Hopefully, going in as the 1-seed for Onalaska and hopefully what we’ve been able to do as the 3-seed, we’re playing with a little chip on our shoulder right now and I think you saw the first steps of it. Talking with Coach Kimmel, we hope to see each other in the Sectional Final,” said Holmen head coach Guy Turner.

Holmen closes out the regular season with a 12-0-2 record in the MVC.

Onalaska is 10-1-3 in conference play.
