Angry Lions fans buy billboards to express frustration over penalties

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A group of anonymous Detroit Lions fans who are angry about the penalties in Monday night’s Packers-Lions game are taking out their frustrations with billboards.

The billboards feature a picture of a referee wearing a cheesehead and doing the gesture for an illegal hands to the face penalty.

An illegal hands to the face penalty in the fourth quarter of the game extended the Packers’ game-winning drive. The NFL determined the officials made a mistake in calling the penalty.

The billboards are running along major highways in the Detroit area.
