La Crosse, WI (WXOW) Congressman Ron Kind says the Al-Baghdadi raid is a reminder about why it’s important to have friends, allies and partners in the region.
He says they’re needed to carry out raids just like the one the Trump administration recently conducted.
Kind spoke with the media about that and other issues at the La Crosse Regional airport after returning from a fact-finding mission to Jordan and Afghanistan at the House Speaker’s request.
Pulling troops from Syria, Kind says, is disastrous for national security interests in the region. “Not only is the president abandoning a long-time ally in the region, the Kurdish forces, but he’s opening the door for ISIS and Al-Qaeda to reform in Syria and Iraq.”
Kind says the withdrawing troops also opens the door for a greater presence of Iran, Russia and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to re-establish control in the region.
