Fall motorcycle safety

LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WXOW) – There are still a few beautiful days here and there, and if you’re a motorcyclist, you’re probably squeezing out those last few rides before the snow flies.

So it’s a good time to remember that you share the road with not only motorcyclists and other drivers, but sometimes with animals.

“This time of year motorcyclists want to get in their last ride in for the year just typically for the last ride and also to see the leaves turning. So it’s important that they wear their safety equipment and a helmet and make sure that if they do see a deer make sure they brake 100% and don’t try and avoid it. A lot of times we’ll see people try and avoid it on motorcycles and they go in the oncoming lane that’s when we’ll see the motorcyclist be injured or possibly killed,” said Sgt. Troy Christianson of the Minnesota State Patrol.

Law enforcement also suggests that riders make sure they have dressed appropriately for those last few motorcycle rides of the season.
