LA CROSSE. (WXOW) – Fastenal and the City of Winona showed plans for a new office building Thursday morning.
The four-story building will bring hundreds of jobs to Winona’s downtown.
Supporting 400-600 employees, the project will be built along the Mississippi River next to the highway 43 bridge.
City officials say it will boost downtown’s economy.
“I think it’s gonna be tremendous. You’re gonna have 600 people working downtown, they’re gonna be shopping downtown, eating downtown, buying gas downtown. It’s wonderful news, this is huge for our downtown,” said Mayor of Winona, Mark Peterson.
Fastenal has no plans of leasing out the building. They plan to grow into it over time.
Other local business owners are thrilled to welcome Fastenal to downtown. They say it will improve their revenues.
The project will break ground late this upcoming spring. Fastenal plans to begin using the building mid-2021.
