Bangor falls to Edgar in level 4 playoff round, Edgar advances to state

Eau Claire, Wisc. (WXOW)- Bangor was looking to advance to their second Division 7 state title game in three seasons when playing Edgar at Carson Park in Eau Claire on Friday evening. Bangor ranked 2nd, while Edgar is ranked 3rd in the state.

However, it is Edgar returning to Camp Randall for the second consecutive season with a 27-7 victory. Bangor’s season ended in the state semifinals as the Cardinals finished as the sectional runner-up. Bangor finished the 2019 season 12-1 overall.

“I’m proud of them,” Head Coach Rick Muellenberg said. “Proud of the effort that they’ve given all season long. These guys are fighters. You know they’re every down, and I just told them all I enjoyed every single day of practice here. I just couldn’t wait to get out there. It’s a great group of guys to work with. I knew they would give everything they had tonight you know. Scoreboard didn’t go in our way, but it wasn’t because lack of effort, this is just a tremendous group of guys.”
