Chili cook-off helps support animal rescue, radio station

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Saturday was a perfect evening to eat chili at the Eagle’s Nest on UW-La Crosse’s campus.

12 cooks competed in the 2019 Coulee Region Chili Challenge. The chili enthusiasts represented different groups at UW-La Crosse and in the community. The event is hosted by RAQ Radio, UW-La Crosse’s student-run radio station, and La Crescent Animal Shelter.

“It’s part of broadcast week for RAQ radio, so this past week we’ve been broadcasting at restaurants and locations around campus, so this is the last event of the week, and it’s to raise money,” said Grant Bilse, co-general manager of RAQ Radio.

All proceeds benefited La Crescent Animal Rescue and RAQ. The cook-off has been going on for the past eight years.
