Winter storm brings travel challenges

The weekend gets underway with a large low-pressure system on its way which brings with it some snow. As the precipitation begins, you’ll need to be prepared for slick roads and slow cars. Snow is expected this evening with accumulations up to 4 inches possible. The more north of La Crosse you are, the more snow is expected. Overnight, warmer air moves in which will change the snow over to rain to the south. It still isn’t certain how far north that warmer air will track.

As the warm front moves in, rain showers will dominate most of the Coulee Region all day Saturday. But if you are traveling to or from the northern parts of Wisconsin or Minnesota that travel will be dangerous. Heavy snow and ice accumulations are expected in those regions all weekend.  Another transition comes Sunday morning as cold air rolls into our area and brings light snow showers as we end the long holiday weekend.

In the coming week though, you can expect plenty of sunshine and temperatures just around average!
