LA CROSSE, WIS. (WXOW) - La Crosse will provide fire service to Medary for 30 years. In return, Medary will pay an annual fee based on property values.
The majority of the fees paid by Medary will go toward funding of a new fire station near Valley View Mall.
La Crosse actually has provided fire services to Medary since 2017 when Onalaska ended its agreement with the town.
"I think it's just the logical next step to make that a longer term agreement to plan for future fire stations. To plan for strengthening of the relationship between La Crosse and Medary," said La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat
La Crosse responds to between 80-90 fire calls a year in Medary which is only about 2% of the calls from the city of La Crosse.
