La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - Whether you're looking for a reason to get out and run or just a fan of garish Christmas garb, Myrick Park is the place to be on Saturday. The Ugly Sweater 5K returns with fun for the whole family.
Presented by The Weber Group and Riverside Corporate Wellness, the race features a roughly three mile run through the marsh trails from Myrick to Riverside Park. Beginning at 4:15 as the sun sets, holiday lights guide runners to the finish. Families can also walk the route to Rotary Lights
Participants will want to wear their best ugly Christmas sweater. An audience vote during the post-race party will determine the winner of this year's contest.
This is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Rotary Club of La Crosse - After Hours. The funds benefit local projects like the maintenance of the Upper Hixon Trails and child literacy programs, as well as international projects like providing clean water to students in Mexico.
Those who want to register to run can still do so online by clicking here. If you'd like to help out but are not a runner, you can still sign up to volunteer.
Registration begins at 3 pm on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Myrick Park Center featuring music by the Coulee Chordsmen. The race gets underway at 4:15 pm. Awards follow at 5 pm with music provided by Tom Conrad.
WXOW 19 is a proud sponsor of the Ugly Sweater 5K.
