La Crescent, MN - (WXOW) - While Monday Night Football featured the Green Bay Packers taking on it's rival Minnesota Vikings, the big winner of the evening was the Great Rivers United Way.
Fans for both teams filled up the Time Out Tavern in La Crescent. While cheering and jeering sometimes divided the fans, all came together at halftime as a check for $1,000 was presented to the United Way.
"Time Out has been doing a series of fundraisers all season," said Julie Nelson from Great Rivers United Way. "They've raffled off game tickets, they've done specials, so a dollar here, ten dollars there, and it's all added up to this thousand dollars."
Nelson added that the best part of the community effort is that the money goes right back into local causes.
In the end, one team did go on to win the border battle on the gridiron. The Packers second half surge resulted in a 23-10 victory as well as being crowned NFL North division champs.
